CULTURAL KNOW-HOW
SUMMARY
In this project, I designed cultural awareness course materials for a fictious company, Company ABC. The company has clients and collaborators from all over the world, including the US, Mexico and Japan. This cultural awareness training is meant to familiarize employees with cultural differences between the three countries. The cultural differences it focuses on are: time and pace, personal space, meeting customs and communication styles. This is an abbreviated course due to time constraints.
INTERATIVE CONTENT DEVELOPED USING RISE
This interactive course was created using Rise. Selected content from the course is shown below.
INFOGRAPHIC: COMMUNICATION STYLES
This infographic was created using Visme to supplement a module about differences in communication styles. It includes various characteristics associated with direct and indirect communication.
NARRATED PRESENTATION: ANATOMY OF A JAPANESE BUSINESS MEETING
This video was created to explain the customs and expectations in a Japanese business meeting. In Japan, custom is highly valued and indirect communication depends on cultural understanding. Thus, it’s important for employees working with Japanese clients to understand the cultural context. The video details all parts of a meeting: scheduling, greetings, making small talk, discussing business and closing.
